New Girl.

Have you ever noticed that many kids in foster care get stuck in situations that may not have happened if they were only children? My newest little girl (who is moving to a new foster home tomorrow) is one such child.

If it had been just her this placement would have been no problem.

I think at the house before me it would have been fine if it was just her...but it isn't.

Now she is moving to a new home, one that thinks it can handle her brother. Often times I see children that are in sibling groups that are available for adoption waiting for a very long time because of the needs of their sibling. I do not think siblings should be split up if it is at all possible to avoid, but it sure is sad seeing little ones suffer because of things that have nothing to do with them.

I used to think that siblings belonged together no matter what!!

After having a set of sisters that fed off of each other in such negative ways, I changed my tune. I now understand that sometimes, in order for there to be healing, siblings have to be separated so they can focus on themselves.

I know that doesn't exactly apply in your situation. But I do agree. It is such a shame when they suffer so greatly for so many things that are out of their control.

I completely agree.

I completely agree as well. In fact, I think often a child is more traumatized by staying with their emotionally disturbed sibling than the loss they would experience by being separated from their sibling.

I agree. The sibling bond is a tough one. In so many situations it's beneficial to keep these kiddos together, but in certain ones it's *ahem* obviously not.
