Hi.

I have a question.

So, Lizzy's mom calls me up, you can tell she just rolled out of bed and is still waking up.

"Can you have Lizzy call my mom and wish her happy birthday? Here is her number. Ok, bye."

Yes, because my job in life is to have this 2 year old talk on the phone to your relatives. For the record, Grandma has been in and out of the hospital all year and is not doing too well, but is currently at home.

So, what would you do, call the Grandma who completely ignored you the entire time she visited with Lizzy 6 months ago - who YOU went out of your way to monitor a visit for.

Or do you ignore crazy pants and know she will forgot she even asked you?

So, to call or not to call (I will let you know what I decided after I hear your thoughts)...that is the question.

You need to quit answering your phone! Does Lizzy remember this lady? Would she even know who she was calling?

I have really been trying to put myself aside lately and do things that maybe my flesh does not want to do....CHALLENGING for sure! I think if I were in your shoes I would give her a quick call (with only Lizzy talking). You never know just how much this might mean to her Grandma. Praying for you as you decide :)

Hmmm...if it was me I'd probably bitch and moan for awhile. I'd call my husband, mother and sister first and complain about the whole thing. I'd grumble some more. Then I'd probably pick up the phone and make the call. In the end, it's right thing to do. Not easy for sure -- getting involved in those bizarre family dynamics. But wishing someone a happy birthday is a simple gesture that will probably brighten her day. Even if Lizzy has no idea what's going on.

What about sending a card? (reverse phone lookup) with no return address.

I like Penelope's idea but given that it's today I'd call.

I would probably call. Maybe just put it on speaker phone and be very upbeat about the whole thing. Have lizzy say a quick "happy birthday" (because will she even know who she's calling?), then finish off with a couple of quick words. Short and to the point!

Will be anxious to hear what you did. We steer clear of the family involvement to keep the drama down. Keeps us less stressed and doesn't put the kids in the middle of so much stuff. To each their own according to what you are comfortable with. But you are involved so will be watching for what you did.

Call me mean, or whatever, but I wouldn't. Too many phone calls I've been burned by in our past year...

The only phone correspondence I will have (and gladly most of the time) is with the parents of my babies.

Then, again, it would be a very nice thing to do for a sick women. I think the singular is "woman", but whatever. Anonymous people can spell however they want, I suppose.

Dude, I'm a total jerk. Reading the other comments and totally disagree. Good thing we don't all have to come to a consensus for Mama Foster to decide. ;)
